Community Dance Program

LaurenDance

The WVU Community Dance Program offers a variety of classes for children and adults. Dance classes are held in the stunning state of the art dance studio at E. Moore Hall and in the newly designed movement room at the Creative Arts Center. Classes for children include the techniques of ballet, creative modern, Jazz and Chinese folkdance. Classes for adults include modern dance and ballroom dancing. Other than the standard attire required for classes, there are no additional costume fees required.

The advantages of dance training include the development of strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination, as well as opportunities for self-expression and personal creativity.

Dance classes offer many benefits for children, encouraging mental and emotional development, enhancing motor and social skills, and providing avenues for exploration and discovery.

In addition to the courses listed in the section, private dance lessons are available upon request and dependent on teacher availability. Please call the Community Arts Office at (304)293-4841 ext. 3168 for information.
